Consolidated Gold Mine Tours
 If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind adventure, then you are at the right place! Consolidated Gold Mines, located in beautiful Dahlonega, Georgia, is the site of the largest hardrock Gold Mine East of the Mississippi River. We are open 7 days a week, rain or shine for Guided Tours of the mine, Gold Panning, and Gemstone Mining. “Thar's gold in them thar hills” and we invite you to see it for yourself!
You and your family will enjoy a 40 minute tour of the mine with one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff members. As you descend the stairs, you will hear tales of miner’s struggles to uncover gold deep within large Quartz veins. Your tour guide welcomes interaction from the group as you experience life as a miner at the turn of the century.
The tour includes:
Displays and discussion of the actual equipment being used at the turn of the century.
An introduction to the geology of the gold belt, including quartz and pyrite formations, where early miners were finding gold.
Walk through the massive tunnel network, complete with the original track system!
Discussion of engineering and mining techniques utilized by the early miners.
Travel over 200 feet underground and take a step back in time to view a slice of history from the late 1800’s! What will you discover?
After your tour, you will receive gold panning instructions from some of the best panners in the world, having won numerous awards in the field. Then you will get a chance to try if for yourself and hopefully you’ll strike it rich!
While you are at the mine, don’t forget to try our “Gemstone Grubbin’” for a great family experience. Everyone will love our water powered flume boxes that quickly wash away material revealing beautiful gemstones! We have buckets for beginners and experts alike. There’s no better way to strike it rich!

47th Annual World Open Gold Panning Championships
 The panning competition was a great success and fun was had by all that attended. Pictured here are the winners of the Men's Open Competition, all three are guides at Consolidated Gold Mines!
